At the risk of getting kicked out off the board, like Andre Johnson, I would like to point something out. This board once upon a time was a great place to go to get officiating news and assignments and share high quality opinions.
But with the rise of football-refs.com, who normally get assignments posted days in advance, and with many members on this board talking about official's looks and getting easily offended, I think the quality of this board is sliding down hill.
I enjoy being on this board, but should not be warned because another member got offended when I disagreed with their grading of an official. If it is going to be this childish, I'd rather deal with fans who know nothing about officiating.
I think whoever warned me was bad in doing it and remaining a mystery and I dont feel I should be warned every time I say something bad about an official or a member, as long as it isn't offensive.
People are allowed to oogle over Ed Hochuli, yet it is ok which I think is terrible. No one on here talks about John Parry's looks, or Walt Coleman, or any of the past or present officials not named Ed Hochuli.
Sorry about the rant but sometimes it ticks me off the things that are allowed on this board.

Re-read the admin post in the observations thread. It wasn't an attack directed at an official, you were apparently getting personal with another member's opinions. You can disagree with the poster but when you make it personal, it violates the standards.
Thank you for bringing your concerns about this board to our attention. At the risk of speaking for the other mods, I feel comfortable with the direction this board is going. The ogling from our distaff members has toned down greatly in the last few years. We all have our favorites that we will promote or defend. That will not change.
It is your choice to continue on here or not.

I'm not an admin for this site or anything, but I think that this is something that needs to be said. I've participated in a lot of other officiating forums (including football-refs.com), and one thing that has pushed me away from some of them is all of the personal attacks and bashing that takes place on those sites. Tim, you offer a lot of great input to this site, but there are times when you say things that I feel are unneccesary. At the risk of getting kicked out off the board, like Andre Johnson, I would like to point something out. Snarky comments like this one get old after a while. Sometimes, they make us smile, but when they are brought up when talking about a serious situation, like this one, I don't appreciate it. In my opinion, it still is. I disagree. The admins have their reasons for not posting game assignments, and I very rarely see any posts referring to an official's looks. It's not what you say, it's how you say it. I felt that the comment you made was to personal. It's ok to disagree, but when you get personal, something has to be done. If you feel that this board is childish, you have to freedom to share your thoughts about officiating on another site. That is for the admins to decide. Nothing wrong with a rant, but if you have a problem with what is taking place on the board, take it up with the admins or feel free to go to another site. As far as I know, everyone who posts regularly on this site gets a great deal of enjoyment from it, so why don't we all just try to get along?

not to be the new guy and all since i dont know how long this has been going on, but i feel like, as this is a forum, it is entirely peoples opinions (apart from the facts of where the officials are assigned and such) and they should thus be allowed to express them.
if certain people want to show their favoritism towards a certain referee, so be it. Hochuli is the best orator of the officials, undoubtably because he is a lawyer, and his is also the most jacked, to put in laymen's terms. (he may wanna watch out, gene steratore is catching up though) ...and while the site is directed at everyone expressing there opinions to the performance of the 17 crews each week, as well as the other various things we talk about, i for one don't get bothered by anyone's comments on someone's looks (i actually get a good chuckle out of it)
with that being said, everyone on here contributes information that makes the referee-following fun for us. I've never been a football official, so everything i say is all opinion about how they did or didn't do. I've done soccer since I was 14, so i know what its like to referee a sport at least.
if someone is posting about a refs looks or something "non-football" just go along with it. don't get so worked about about something that isnt a big deal. if they were offended by you, then just don't worry about it, and continue posting, but use some discretion.

timjohnson:
You're entitled to your opinion about this site and similar sites. You're welcome to post if you play by the rules. I don't beg people to stay who don't play by the rules, and it sure wouldn't be a loss for the board if it comes down to a ban. You know what you did and I'm not going to play juvenile games. You need to ask yourself if you really want to be here. Some things you write ARE offensive to others! It's the personal attacks. That's the whole point. If you can't see it, then perhaps we have an issue here.
On another note, I'm willing to bet if I did a query on the topics here that physique discussion makes up a very small percentage of the posts here. We have female posters and sometimes things will slip in from time to time, but I feel overall that we have control of a lot of it.
