Interesting to hear Shag Crawford getting caught using "F Bomb" towards Earl in 1969 WS. Earl and Haller is a classic.....too bad Bill Haller retired at a fairly young age in 1981 or 82 at roughly 50 years old, he was a good one. If Haller had stuck it out a while longer, he might have been HOF material. And if Palermo had not had that tragedy of getting shot, he DEFINITELY was HOF material... That was back in the day when 50 was "getting pretty old." I think there was an unwritten rule that umpires would retire around 55-years old. That written or unwritten policy was dropped later in the 1980s. A position opened up in the front office and Haller became an observer after working the 1982 World Series. Haller claims that he was fired from his observer job for refusing to work the 1984 playoffs when the umpires went on strike. After he left his front office gig he worked as a minor league instructor/evaluator. Here's a photo of him from a few years ago: bit.ly/ex3iV3

Why am I not surprised that Bob Davidson ran a mascot?

Why am I not surprised that Bob Davidson ran a mascot? Bob Davidson would run his mom if she was sitting in the front row and looked at him wrong.
