Derrick Collins is the alternate. John Goble is the alternate for Game 1 of the Phil-Bos series. (Willard-Capers-Jones on that crew.)
It'll be interesting to see Game 7 crew for the Memphis-Clippers series tomorrow.

Nope - Sean Wright was in the second round last year. Lewis has never made the second round - we'll soon see if he remains an alternate or gets an actual assignment.

I believe Scott Foster is the new Number 1 Referee ahead of the 2 Crawfords, Joe and Dan.
Any news on Dick Bavetta concerning possible retirement.....and has Bennett Salvatore officially retired, he missed the year with injuries.

I heard somewhere, and I can't remember where, that this was Bavetta's last year. But if so, I wonder why there hasn't been any ballyhoo like there was with Strom, etc.

He may be that he may want to continue and I hope it is not the case in which the league will one day make the decision for him. Dick Bavetta has had a lengthy, successful career and go out on his terms. I just hope he did not or will not hang on too long.

Here's how you send a guy off: Word has it that McCreary was able to pick his last mates. Some things the NHL gets right.

Update: Eric Lewis did indeed work a second round game Celtics-Sixers Game 3 Last Night. If tj is correct, that was Lewis's first second round assignment on the court. David Guthrie worked Lakers-Thunder Game 1 on Monday. Not sure if that was his first second round game or not, but he is definetely a youngster to look out for in the future. The second round has gone on for five days now and we have still yet to see Ken Mauer, Bill Kennedy, Marc Davis or Bill Spooner. Not sure if that means anything or not. I seriously doubt it, but I will be on the lookout for those four as they all have NBA Finals experience, either as an alternate (Spooner) or on-court Official, and have a good chance of being there again.

I believe Bill Spooner gets his first Finals this year. Some Veterans seem to show up in the later games as we get deeper in the playoffs. Younger first time refs like Lewis and Guthrie generally get one game in the round they advance the first year.
Interesting to see if david Jones a 20+ year veteran who was an alternate in game one gets an on court second round game. Long-time solid official who has generally been a number 2 on the crew with some part-time crew chief assignments.

Jones worked a game 1 already in round two. I agree, solid official who has never really gotten his due

Guthrie made the playoffs for the first time last year and now makes the second round - that's a good track. No Zarba so far either, but i agree it's prudent to wait until the series start changing cities before drawing any conclusions. Interesting to note that Callahan was not a crew chief for this round as well (under Stafford) while McCutchen moved back to Crew Chief.

Marc Davis was the referee involved in the Rajon Rondo incident in round one. It wouldn't surprise me if he isn't done for the year.

Marc Davis was the referee involved in the Rajon Rondo incident in round one. It wouldn't surprise me if he isn't done for the year. Why? Davis didn't do anything wrong in that incident. I actually guessed that Davis wouldn't work the Finals this year either because in the games I have watched he has just been horrendous. The drop off from last year to this year was signifcant. It seemed like he had a huge ego from working the Finals last year and it affected him on the court this year. Trust me when I say he was not good at all this season. But, I see nothing wrong with how he handled the Rondo situation.
