Congrats to Tony Brothers.
I had Bill Spooner and James Capers ahead of Tony Brothers, I guess this is the first surprise choice to me, generally happens in 2's for the Finals.
How far into Playoffs did Eddie Rush go? Before injuries the past few years he was a mainstay in the Final Round.

Rush only worked the first round.

Steve Javie is doing very well as an officiating analyst on ESPN.

Too bad injuries forced him to retire early, one of the best. Overcame adversity (hothead) early in career.

does the previous game alternate always work the next game or is that just coincidence?

In the past, alternates generally do not work...Bill Spooner has been an alternate the past few years and Marc Davis was one before getting a game in The Finals.

You're forgetting Duke Callahan. It will be Foster and Callahan with maybe Kennedy, but I wouldn't be surprised if I was surprised by someone else, Garretson perhaps. Just a weird feeling

Marvin, you are right, I did miss Duke Callahan.
He will be there with Scott Foster and Bill Kennedy.
I guess Bill Spooner will have to wait another year. Looks like Marc Davis was the one shut out this year with the addition of Tony Brothers and James Capers.
League generally assigns 12 Officials to The Finals. Up from 10 plus Darrell Garretson during his tenure as Supervisor of Officials years ago.

Foster, Callahan (since he worked Game 7 ECF), and Kennedy will be Game 4 officials I think.

Yes, in years past the Game 4 crew used to be a mix of guys who had worked a previous game in the series and those who hadn't yet. Now they go with four "full" crews.

Callahan was a first round crew chief. I can't imagine that he wouldn't be in the Finals. I think the only question is the third official and I agree with the others that it's probably Kennedy. I'd be real surprised if it's not.
So here's a question. Who do you think was #13? Or put another way, who got in as a result of Greg Willard's unfortunate illness? Since he was a 1st and 2nd round crew chief, I think it's safe to assume he would have made the Finals.

My guess is Tony Brothers due to not being a full-time Crew Chief.
I thought Bill Spooner was the next in line, also, Marc Davis lost his spot this year. Both Duke Callahan and Tom Washington missed a Finals several years ago....It shows NBA will drop you a round or two if you have a bad game or series.
