If there's anyone on the inside, how did the "A" official work out this year? Did he coordinate with the crew well? Were there any issues? Is this the wave of the future? Does the experiment need more study? Or will the 8th official idea be scrapped?

From what I hear, the coaches really liked the 8th Official. It allowed the R and U to officiate these up tempo teams, rather than spotting the ball and then trying to get back in position while the snap was going off. The "A" meshed well with the crews and was a HUGE asset in game administration. Look for it to be around again next season! Hopefully, it expands to more conferences next season!

Thanks for the report! Did the "A" throw a lot of flags? Did the R, U, and A break down their keys on line coverage?

Video from last season. Walt Anderson worked a scrimmage wearing a camera and helmet, probably to help train the "A" officials where to look.
Interesting stuff.

The official will now be called the Center Judge and have a "C" on his jersey. Another forum reported that this is a Walt Anderson announcement.
