Results of the meeting:
Numbers Contrast - They are going to ask the Rules Committee for stronger language in contrasting colors between the jersey and the numbers. Last year wasn't good and they need to get stronger language.
They are going to ask the Rules Committee for the NFL's rule prohibiting going at the QB's knees or below when in the pocket and throwing the ball, whether the ball is thrown or not.
Rules Committee to examine TGT on a RPS, or TGT on a KCI when Replay overturns the TGT, we can still enforce the 15 yards for RPS or KCI.
Sideline Control: With coaches and players stepping one foot onto the field, at any time other than a timeout, it will be flagged. They are looking at ZERO tolerance!!!! Similar to how TGT carries an ejection and it drew everyone's attention, they want to try and do the same thing with the sidelines with a penalty. This recommendation came down from the CFO Board and will be a HUGE point of emphasis this year.
Referee and Umpire will go to the coaches at 90 minutes prior to KO, rather than 75 minutes.
Big change: Field Judge and Line Judge will line up on the opposite side of the Press Box with the Head Linesman and Side Judge on the side of the press box to start the game. At halftime the sideline officials will swap sides, the Head Linesman and the Side Judge will now be opposite the Press Box (their traditional position) for the second half. The chains will ALWAYS be opposite the Press Box. The individual official's duties during live-ball action will remain the same throughout the game, including sliding downfield on passes (H) and who is responsible for forward/backward pass (L). But yes, that means the Line Judge will need to learn how to do measurements, move the chains on first downs, etc., it's not rocket science. More to come on this but this is approved, and will happen, no need to go to Rules Committee on this one. The rule keeps the "chains" opposite the press box for filming purposes, etc… but which officials are on which side of the field is left to editorial notations and mechanics.
