I was at a clinic this past weekend and heard that several guys may have a chance at the NFL. Does anyone know when the NFL will contact these guys? When will the new hires be announced and who is up for the league from the college conferences?

They are likely making contact at about this time. We will know for certain after May 15 when the crews are set, or sooner if it is leaked.

Good God does he ever look like his dad. Tell me about it! Despite what Ben posted I would not completely rule out Shawn Hochuli being a BJ. Do we know for sure that Kirk Dornan is coming back especially since if he retired now he would get a better, injury-related pension. Also, there was some talk about there possibly being more "retirements" amongst lower ranked officials and I hate to say it but when was the last time Don Carey worked a playoff game? Also it has not been announced who will be replacing Scott Green and for all we know it may be another Scott (Helverson!)

Despite what Ben posted I would not completely rule out Shawn Hochuli being a BJ. Made a quick edit to the post for clarity. Someone has to move to a deep wing, be it Hochuli or one of the current back judges. There is no indication yet. It is also possible that one of the back judges could have been let go, but I have no information that leads me to that conclusion. I highly doubt that they would keep 18 back judges and move one to a swing official, but that is an option as well.

Solid source says that 11 calls total went out to new hires yesterday. So good for Shawn and the others as well!

So, the question is.......are we going to have several swing officials this season or are there more retirements on tap? Officially we have five openings.

So are they taking their new hires from the list of 21,because if that's the case the numbers are wrong because on the list of 21 their are only one candidate on the list from the big 12 and from the big10, but th list says that they are hiring 2 candidate from each of those conferences.
