His son dies at age 27. He lost another son in 1993.

I cannot even fathom the thought of burying one child let alone two who both died from the same awful disease. My condolences to John and his family

Brian Gorman and Ron Kulpa left the replay room to work the Red Sox Yankee game to day so Bob Davidson and James Hoye could go to Michael Hirshbeck's funeral . Such a sad story everybody should read the 1997 Pulitzer Prize article the Umpire's Sons.
