There is now officially 1 week to go in the regular season & then the playoffs begin in full next Tuesday with the AL wildcard game. As such, this means the switch to 6 umpires for the rest of 2014. I want this thread to serve as a place where we can observe the postseason umpiring & make predictions about who'll umpire where & in what rounds.
With that said, here's my early guess as to where the regular season CC's will end up come the postseason (I might give a guess of all the umpires later on, but for now, I'll focus on my area of "expertise"):
ALDS: Dale Scott (CC) and Brian Gorman ALDS: Gerry Davis (CC) and Tom Hallion NLDS: Joe West (CC) and Ted Barrett NLDS: Gary Cederstrom (CC) and Mike Winters
ALCS/NL wildcard game: Jeff Kellogg (CC) and Jim Joyce (if Joyce isn't eligible, then Jerry Layne) NLCS/AL wildcard game: Tim Welke (CC) and 1 of Bill Miller or Jeff Nelson
WS: Scott(CC) with Cederstrom and Winters

I am more interested in seeing if someone like Andy Fletcher gets his first postseason appearance. How he could last 15 years despite never being assigned a playoff game is beyond me

Russ you do know that the Wildcard Crew usually works the LCS. I'm going by the same way they did it last year where the 4 infield guys are working the LCS's and the 4 outfield guys only work that one game. For reference from last year. NL Wild Card: Joe West Dale Scott Dan Iassogna Rob Drake Tim Timmons Lance Barksdale AL Wild Card: Gerry Davis Ted Barrett Greg Gibson Mike Everitt Phil Cuzzi Brian Knight Timmons, Barksdale, Cuzzi, and Knight only worked the wild card game while Kulpa, Dreckman, Marquez, and Carlson worked the LCS's but not the Wild Card game.

So, you guys probably remember, a few nights ago, Moustakas makes that crazy foul ball catch into the dugout suite. www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/mike-moustakas-catch-kc-royals-alcs-game-3-baltimore-orioles-101514I seem to remember, some years ago, MLB changed a rule on these type of catches requiring that at least one foot be on the ground at the time of the catch. Clearly, Moose had no feet on the ground at the time of the catch. Is this one of those rules that umpires just dont enforce? Or am I having a Roger Clemens moment and mis-remembering this?
