How about the hit on Geno Smith? I thought it's illegal to hit the qb at the knees or below? Do you think they make the call if it's against Brady?

The foul is for a "forcible hit to the knee or below". In the play last night, the defender attempts to wrap his arms, which usually indicates the contact does not rise to the level of 'forcible.' This is used when evaluating risk indicators of acts by players for Targeting as well... i.e. wrapping arms presents lower risk for Targeting. But, this is not absolute in anyway. You can certainly have a forcible low hit on the passer or Targeting with wrapping arms. So, like everything else, use these (and other) indicators to for the basis for your judgment and MAKE THE CALL! How about the hit on Geno Smith? I thought it's illegal to hit the qb at the knees or below? Do you think they make the call if it's against Brady?
