What crews did you see? What did you think of them?

2nd ejection of the day for contact with an official as Carolina's Luke Kuechly gets booted by Triplette's crew.

www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-highlights/0ap3000000413361/One-of-the-messiest-plays-you-will-seeA crazy play in Jacksonville. The Browns rush their offense back on the field to go for it on fourth down. By rule, if the offensive team makes a late substitution, the umpire is instructed to not allow the snap, in order for the defense to make its substitution. The officials have to work fast to count the players, make sure all players on offense are set and in proper formation. Good job by the Corrente crew to sort out this mess.

Just sat down to watch part of Raiders Cardinals. Don't know who's doing game yet. Have seen a couple very questionable calls in a short period of time. On the last AZ possession they had 2nd and 7 and Palmer threw an incomplete pass. It was his first and only read. Way away from the ball a Raider DB had brief contact with his man within 4-5 yds of LOS. Got flagged. Very next series Raiders had 3rd and long and sent 3-4 out. Pass was incomplete but 2 of 4 receivers were contacted well behind 5 yards and it appeared they both continued to make contact. No call. Arizona's actions were substantially more egregious, definitely more part of the play and truly had an effect on the the play, it should've been a penalty.

Clete Blakeman doing AZ Oakland game. Another unbelievably bad call. Raiders called for PI on a play that if anything the WR wrapped his arm around LB, who had better position and made it look like he was the one interfered with when it was he who made the move. Horrible call. People who want to learn should watch tape of this game. Some great examples of what is bad officiating.

I tend to agree with Pereira on this one. Last year, there was a play in which Jermaine Gresham clearly contacted an official in an argument, and wasn't ejected. In this case, Kuechly is being grabbed previously by a Packer player then gets grabbed from behind by an official. He can't possibly know who is grabbing him in the fracas. Plus, he doesn't intend to hit the official. I understand the no-contact rule, but I think a little discretion might have been in order.

I wonder if the NFL is going to have something to say about the sun in Dallas. I know open-air stadiums aren't allowed to be built east-west for that very reason. I thought I heard the announcer say there's some way to block the windows, but it wasn't being used.

I never heard the east/west restriction on open-air stadiums. Interesting.
The doors are a home club decision 90 minutes prior to kickoff. Only an incoming hazard will allow the referee and the highest ranking league official on site to make a decision to close them.

Morelli crew with their usual, no-drama, quietly effective game in Chicago.

I heard something on the radio about a phantom face mask penalty on San Diego's Corey Liuget near the end of the KC/SD game. Anyone got any footage of that?

Only an incoming hazard will allow the referee and the highest ranking league official on site to make a decision to close them. When did that go into effect? I know the current First Energy Stadium in Cleveland (built in 1999 around the old Dawg Pound) runs East-West paralleling Lake Erie. I want to say MetLife Stadium is also East/West, but don't hold me to that.
