Absolutely idiotic change. Almost as idiotic and just as much a silly gimmick as the NHL's introduction of the Bettman Follies aka the NHL shootout a decade ago to "make the game more exciting" which every true hockey fan hates. If the problem was the automatic nature of the PAT and perhaps a safety issue, the solution would have been to make a touchdown count 7 points unless a team decided it wanted to go for 2 in which case the touchdown would be worth 6. And to give a team an opportunity to score because it blocks a PAT or recovers a fumble on a PAT is just as imbecilic. Leave the games alone and stop with these gimmicks.

I do not like the change. I'm a traditionalist and my best answer to now change the rule is "because." NFL didn't take the reasoning. Could be some unintended consequences: www.footballzebras.com/2015/05/19/12733/

I still think it'd be a fun experiment to have field goals of 55yds or more be worth 4 points and 60yrds or more worth 5 points. You'd have the possibility of two long snappers. One snapper snaps it to another snapper who snaps it to the holder at the 45 or 50 yd line.
