Any word on the training officials list for 2015? Saw a BJ 154 at Browns minicamp. 154 was worn by Shawn smith last year but he was hired this year as a regular official.

I'm guessing the returnees kept their number and the new ones are assigned by alphabetical order?

That must have just gone up, because I was looking for the list a few weeks ago. Thanks, reffingesq.
Last year I wasn't able to collect uniform numbers, but I collected them the year before from the gamebooks.
Very, very surprised to see that the AAC is not represented.

My pleasure. I was surprised by the absence of any AAC officials, as well. C-USA has a nice showing, however.

It probably was Smith at the mini-camp. I'm guessing they'll get their new unis when they meet in July.

The AAC was represented by Jonah Monroe but he was elevated to the NFL with the injury to the deep wing official.

I suspect Rogers will be an ump since he just got hired as an sec ref. clay Martin was hired this year as an ump so I guess the traditional umpire may have a harder time Breaking into the league.
With Barry Anderson moving to umpire this year I suspect he will ref a preseason game and will become the next ref hired.

Yes, but they will still need seasoned umpires and not have a revolving door at the position.

Yes, but they will still need seasoned umpires and not have a revolving door at the position. Steven Woods is a Big Ten Umpire and is on the training list. He has worked major bowl games each of the last three years and probably has a very good chance of being hired in the near future. But I agree they need to have actual Umpires at the position as well. Last year they had Doug Wilson but I guess he didn't impress enough to return.

At some point the NFL will go to 8 officials, so as long as they don't do something screwy and follow what the NCAA is doing, there will be a need for traditional umpires.

There was a black skinned official at San Diego camp working as number 145. Any names or ideas?
