Good guesses. Can't argue with any.
I think Cannon will represent the B1G as white hat in one of the semi-final bowl games. His assignment to OSU-UM last week was telling, IMO.
I predict either the Big 12 or Pac 12 will call the National Championship game....whatever conference has been shut out longest.

And if Oklahoma gets in then the argument for the Big XII will be moot, anyway. I would imagine the SEC will get one of the semifinals so long as Alabama and Georgia don't both get in the CFP (which likely means Bama needs to win the SEC because I bet they still get in even with a loss to UGA). The SEC hasn't gotten a CFP game since the first year in 2014 (Matt Austin worked the Rose Bowl). Although if three out of five P5 conferences get left out (meaning Bama, Clemson, ND, and UGA are the four teams), those three conferences might end up being the representatives.

There was controversy over he and his crew's work during the 2016 regular season Clemson vs. Pittsburgh matchup. I know for sure he has not worked a Clemson game since. Not sure If he's worked at Pitt game since. I think it will be Jeff Heaser or perhaps Riley Johnson.

Usually, the conference championship officials are NOT the best officials in the league that year. The all-star officials get the NY6 and championship. For instance, last year Jeff Flanagan worked the ACC championship. He did not work a bowl game. The best Referee in the ACC last year was Jeff Heaser, as it was him who got assigned the Rose Bowl. In 2016-17, the best referee in the SEC was Matt Austin, so he was the single SEC referee in the New Years six.

Genuinely curious. There’s a lot more on the line in a conference championship game than 4/6 NY6 games.

Speculation, but here’s my theory: Which game last year do you think was a more important game last year; The National Championship or the Big 10 Championship? What game was more important 2 years ago: Michigan/FSU or Alabama/ Florida? Obviously, in my opinion, New Years Six games, the playoffs, and the NC are WAY more important than conference championship games. Under your theory, the top official lasts year in the pac-12 was not Land Clark, it was Mike Mothershed. Which to me is crazy. It makes no sense that the best of the best officials from each conference would not be assigned the National Championship, Playoffs,or the New Years Six.

The Top officials get Playoff and New Years Six games. Though I would definitely give the assignment to Capron, or maybe O’Neill. Cannon would get the Championship if the big ten refs officiate it only because O’Neill and Capron already officiated NCs (2014 and 2018)
