The NFHS rules are way too restrictive on blocking below the waist. With the advances in knee surgery, blocking below the waist is much safer than doing it above the shoulders. You can replace a knee or a hip. You cannot replace a brain.
Texas will never adopt NFHS rules because blocking below the waist is nearly outlawed by the federation. Louisiana went away from NFHS rules from 1981-90 because of it. The option game is almost dead because of these strict restrictions. Time to go back to the future!

The NCAA BBW rules are very technical, (can't block back towards LOS, have to be between the blockee's 10 - 2 etc.). I doubt the NFHS will adopt the NCAA BBW rules. Right or wrong, mom and dad will view legalizing BBW as making football less safe. On another note, welcome to the forum! Thanks for jumping in with both feet and feel free to keep posting!
