Hi js. I did not say I agree or disagree with that philosophy. I was talking from a historical perspective. Is it right or wrong? I don't know. The fact is part of what caused the broo ha ha was the Blues scored what turned out to be the winning goal on the play. If Rask makes the save, nobody remember the play.
In my 57 years of watching NHL games, I've seen many calls every bit as bad let go late in games. Think of Islanders-Panthers several years ago hen they let a late tripping go and Tavares came back to level the score in the last minute of the game. If you've watched the NHL for a while, you realize this happens all the time. It's simply the nature of the beast.
Just one other thought. Four guys were sacked from the playoffs to cover the league's rear end. Gotta make guys think twice on every call they make. Obviously nobody saw the hand pass in the San Jose game so how could you blame and embarrass them when the league had every means to help them out. In the Las Vegas game, they obviously did not see the cross check but reacted to the player bleeding on the ice. Perhaps this led to the sub conscious desire not to make a call if there was any doubt in the officials' mind..

So given the "back-and-forth" rotation, we presume we'll see Rooney and Dwyer reffing Game 6. Where it really gets interesting is if Boston wins, who gets Game 7? If the Blues win Sunday night, we'll never know.

It most definitely has been a challenging Playoff Season.
Is Wes MacCauley healthy enough to work Game 6 and possibly a Game 7?

Assuming McCauley is out...
If the NHL decides to go with their "seasoned" veterans, they'll go with Rooney and Sutherland.
But if you ask me - and given the Sutherland non-call in Game 5 - I think Rooney and Dwyer have earned Game 7.
Thoughts?

Scouting the Refs reporting that Rooney and Dwyer are getting Game 7. Linesmen TBA.

This is consistent with what they have done throughout the playoffs. I hope Rooney and Dwyer have a great game.

Cherrey and Amell on the lines. Sutherland and Racicot are the stand-by officials.

I wasn't able to watch game 7, but I don't hear too much grumbling about the officials. Was it a well-called game?
Sounds like the Blues had control for much of it.

I wasn't able to watch much either but the only penalty call was a delay of game, an automatic call. What I did see looked like a typical Game 7, everyone totally focused and on their game. Usually that type of game is pretty clean.

I watched most of the game. The officials were fine, St. Louis was great, Boston was awful. (and I'm from MA)
