Having looked at the assignments so far, and realizing we haven't seen conference assignments, I wonder who hasn't gotten an assignment. Among the referees eligible, I note Boger seems as of now to have missed (unless he gets the conferences). Anybody else?

Last year there were 4 referees ineligible meaning there were 13 officials available for 10 assignments (SB officials double up).
This year it is 14 available for 10.
In his tenure, Riveron has doubled up CC officials too.
These past two years have been good chances for Tier II/Borderline officials to get an onfield assignment. If a referee gets totally shut out, he has had a poor year.

Boger and Torbert are the only 2 Playoff eligible Referees who have not gotten any assignments as of yet. Allen, Wrolstad, Martin and Kemp have been alternates but not been on the field yet.

IMO, Torbert is the biggest shock for me.

Here are the officials who have yet to get any assignment (on-field or alternate) with their eligibility status for postseason assignments. I've excluded 1st year officials, 1st year white hats, and retiring officials who are likely Pro Bowl bound. The following codes are:
-- means they have previously worked a Super Bowl and are eligible for any assignment Those who are eligible for a SB and have not worked one: eSB means they worked a CC game previously, 3/5 means they are only qualified by 3 postseason games in 5 years, ①SB means they got their first CC assignment last year and are now SB eligible for the first time. xSB — not SB eligible; zSB — worked last year's SB xCC — not eligible for a championship game, so only possibility is alternate assignments now. ①PS — first year eligible for WC/DIV game, only alternate position is possible now

And, we have also gotten word that some officials will have three assignments. What we don't know is whether or not that third assignment will be on field or alt.
Just when think we've figured it out, we get a new surprise.
And, there are some heavy hitters on that list who will be shut out totally this year.

And what are you thinking?
I don't follow the officials as closely as some do here. I only remember 1 game Boger did this year. It was the KC-NE game where the crew was universally panned but I don't think it was all his fault.

Boger must have had a really bad year for them to give others 3 assignments rather than use him. But I wonder. I know his crew got really panned after the KC-NE game about the missed calls that were not his. I remember about 20 years ago when a referee got good ratings but didn't get a playoff assignment because it wouldn't look good but was paid for a playoff assignment anyway. I wonder if this was the case here or Boger simply had really poor ratings. Any thoughts?

Boger has not had an on-field playoff assignment since Super Bowl 47. An alternate sprinkled in here and there but his playoff well ran dry.

I remember people thinking the Super Bowl assignment was odd. Can someone remind me the reasoning behind the assignment? Was it some kind of "payback" for the lockout or something?

It helps when you have a “rabbi” who will overturn 8 downgrades so it looks like you had a perfect season.

All that being the case. he has probably been in the bottom third of the rankings for a while which brings up the questio0n as to why he still has a job or at the very least demoted from the referee position. After all, two decades ago they demoted several referees to push then into hanging up their whistles (see for example Dreith, B.). Just some thoughts.

Ron Blum is probably a better example. Ben Dreith there was evidence that the league had a double standard because of his age. This is also the same NFL that kept Tom White at Referee all those years. If Land Clark is not promoted soon I am not sure it will ever happen due to age. If neither Walt Anderson nor Tony Corrente retire after this year I would hope NFL approaches Boger about switching to a different position.
