In the Peach Bowl Alternate Matthew Richards (normally a referee) is in the game at the line judge position.
We do know know the reason he's in.

This is Greg Blum's first time white-hatting a NY6 game. I feel sorry that it is such an awful blowout.
The crew will have to make sure to concentrate so they don't miss a cheap shot or some other big call because they have mentally snoozing.

What a stinker of an Orange Bowl.
The game was over midway through the second quarter, but Greg Blum's Big 10 crew was good the whole way.
In a game where no call really impacted the outcome of the game, Blum's crew still worked the game with the proper intensity and dedication demanded of a New Years Six bowl crew.
Some over-zealous unsportsmanlike conduct fouls by Georgia and a frustration foul by Florida State were handled properly by the officials. They didn't allow any shenanigans.
This was Blum's first time to wear the white hat for a New Years Six bowl. While he didn't officiate a classic, he and his crew did a great job and can be proud of their efforts.

I only saw the second half so I can't make an educated critique. But, from what I saw, it seemed like the crew did a good job. Nothing outrageous or cringe-y.
And that game was over long before the final gun.

The officials picked up a facemask foul on Liberty, thinking the hand brushed across the facemask and there wasn't any grasping. But replay showed that the defender got a thumb barely hooked on the facemask and tugged.
While we understand why the officials wouldn't want to call "brushing the facemask," replay shows that there was a grasp and the crew probably should have stuck with the flag.
