Not surprised by the choices. Let Jim Joyce have a season where he is not in the spotlight and then give him a Crew Chief position especially since there a few current Crew Chiefs who are not getting any younger. Would not be surprised if Wally Bell and Larry Vanover are among the next to be promoted to Crew Chief

Ed Rapuano has been deserving of promotion to crew chief for a long time. Congrats to he and to Mike Winters.

While not a crew chief, Chuck Meriwether officially retired (for HR purposes) this year. He was on the "DL" for 2010 and a AAA umpire filled in for him. So, an umpire will be hired full time to replace him this year.

WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT OTHER CREW CHIEF RETIRED. LOOKS LIKE JIM JOYCE WILL NEVER MAKE A CHIEF. It could be that he just doesn't want to be a crew chief. He's so highly regarded by everyone in baseball that one would think he'd been approached to be a crew chief, but just turned it down...

Congratulations to Mike Reilly on a successful career.
Only one active umpire remains who wore the Captain Kangeroo red jackets in the AL in the 1970s, and that's Derryl Cousins.

Maybe Jim Joyce has be designated to succeed Derryl Cousins as he has been on his crew the past few years and is nearing the end of a long career.
Next up for consideration....Jim Joyce, Bill Hohn, Larry Vanover, Angel Hernandez and Wally Bell.

Ditto Bob Davidson

Honigs' Facebook site reports Brian Knight and Scott Barry have been hired full-time. The third position will be filled in Spring Training.
