WOW! Dan Capron in the Sugar Bowl. Good for him. He has always been very inconsistent with Bowl assignments, but this is big for him. Also congrats to Mike Cannon and Alex Kemp on their first Bowl assignments as a Referee. Looks like only Todd Geeerlings and Dennis Lipski missed out on the postseason. The Geerlings one is surprsising because he has worked bowl games every year since at least 2008 (maybe longer, but that is as far as my lists go). But Dennis Lipski is far more concerning to me. Since 2008 he has only worked 1 Bowl Game, the 2010 Music City Bowl.

Good for Capron! Lipski concerns me too as I've always enjoyed his officiating, but maybe time is catching up to him....
I fully expect Kemp to be in the NFL within two years (if he wants it) so that might open the door back up for Geerlings or Lipski.

I agree with you on Kemp and honestly think Mike Cannon is in the same boat. This is his first year as a Referee and he is already working a Bowl Game. Before that he consistently rated out as the top FJ and has worked many BCS games in his career. He has the resume the NFL is looking for. I don't know as much about Kemp's history, but I think he was a SJ before becoming a Referee.

Russ -
Bill Athan retired after last year's Belk Bowl. I would think Jim Farmer would be the choice in Hawaii.
WAC: New Orleans- Bill Athan Hawaii- Clair Gausman [/quote]

Congrats to Land Clark. He is one of the best in the Pac-12. I am really hoping that Matt Jordan is the U for the NC.
Congrats to Mike DeFee for getting on the best bowl game that a CFO crew could get. The fact he got that game should suprise no one.

Interesting after what happened in the regular season Epperly got a bowl game. I thought they would give it to McCreesh

Congratulations to Jeff Heaser for getting Army-Navy. He seems to be an up and comer. I am also surprised to see David Epperley get a bowl game after being suspended during the regular season.

I am also surprised to see David Epperley get a bowl game after being suspended during the regular season. agreed with this. the only two referees from ACC that didn't get anything "postseason" to my knowledge are Davenport and McCreesh. not sure why McCreesh got nothing, but Davenport isn't very good.

Forgive my ignorance, but does the ACC staff every Army-Navy game these days? Does the ACC treat this classic as a bowl game? What a game today and the crew did a great job!

It gets lots of media attention, so that is enough, imho, for the PTB to treat it just shy of a bowl game - but certainly a "plumb assignment" - possibly for a future bowl game crew.
