Here are some helpful tips for navigating the new forum layout. Most of these are a result of a mandatory software upgrade by the service providing the forum.
Rather than adding to the length of a particular thread with "I agree" or other "me, too" responses, there is a "like" button on every post. This is not tied to Facebook; this like is internal, and the top of the post will reflect the number of likes.
When you have a new private message in your inbox, the balloon shown here will appear.
If you have a miscellaneous notification, a balloon will appear over "profile" in the menu bar. This includes likes of your posts, if someone quoted your post,
You can change what miscellaneous notifications you would receive by going to your profile, clicking "edit profile" and then "notifications." Here, you can choose whether certain features notify you in the forum, by e-mail, both, or neither.
When a thread spans several pages, the page navigation bar appears at the top of the thread, instead of the bottom. However, as you scroll down, it will remain at the top of the screen. I realize this will take some getting used to, but if this is proves to be unpopular, I will look at a modification to return it to the old way.
When quoting a post that is a quote that also quoted... and so on: Only the last two levels of the quoted text will appear in the quotation. If a user has an avatar, a mini avatar will be posted next to the poster's screen name.
Those of you who are not fans of the "coded" look of your posts with [ ] tags surrounding bolds, quotes, etc.: You can click "preview" at the bottom of the post editor to see your post with the formatting applied.
If you have any questions, throw them into the bottom of this thread, and one of the moderators or another community member will attempt to answer.
