Based on the rotation of conferences working the National Championship it should be the AAC (former Big East) getting the slot this year. If that holds true I expect Ed Ardito to get the assignment. Him and John McDaid are the two top dogs in the conference but since McDaid workded the National Championship in 2009 they will probably not give it to him again. Even though he is in his first year in the conference he is the best Referee they have and tended to work pretty good bowl games as a C-USA Referee. Just for reference here is what the order has been for the most recent Championship games.
2012- Land Clark (Pac-12) 2011- Scott Novak (Big 12) 2010- Bill Lemmonnier (Big Ten) 2009- John McDaid (Big East) 2008- Ron Cherry (ACC) 2007- Jon Bible (Big 12) 2006- Jack Folliard (Pac-12) 2005- Dave Wotvoet (Big Ten) 2004- Steve Shaw (SEC, last time they worked the NC) 2003- Dennis Hennigan (Big East) 2002- Randy Cristal (Big 12)

I would guess the American conference (former Big East) will get the game. It not for FSU in the national championship it would probably be the ACC doing the game.

Actually SEC should have been first on the list before the teams were decided, followed by the ACC. SEC is due for the next NCG that doesn't involve an SEC team (whenever that might be)...they were so close this year. Can't help but feel for Matt Austin or Matt Moore (my guess as to who would get the assignment) that they keep getting bumped out...but as an Auburn alum I can't say that I feel too badly for them.

When LSU and Alabama rematched a couple years ago, why didn't they give SEC that game since they were both SEC teams? They didn't and that felt like officials from New Jersey officiating Florida High School state championships.

No Way the NCAA or the SEC would allow SEC Crew to have worked the LSU-Alabama rematch. LSU diehard fans already believe in their core the SEC favors Bama and dislikes LSU. lmao. That would have been a No-Win situation for the Officials and the Conference. Much better they did not work it. May be years before the SEC gets a chance to work it though even wit hthe new system starting next year. Good luck to all of the crews working this Bowl season. I have several friends who will be working. Waiting to see all of their final assignments.

If that's the case, then Jack Folliard will not be working the Capital One Bowl because Wisconsin is playing. In case anyone needs a reminder, it was his crew that worked the Wisconsin-Arizona State game this year and was reprimanded by the Pac-12 for his crew's abysmal performance at the end of that game, costing Wisconsin a chance to win the game.

Based on the in season assignments I would imagine Land Clark or Shawn Hochuli will be working the Capital One Bowl
