At any rate, it would certainly be surprising if any of these four now make the Finals.

According to Andy Strickland of Fox Sports, Marc Joanette, Dan O'Rourke, and the two linesmen, Matt MacPherson and Jonny Murray, are done for the postseason.

I don't care what the rules say, the situation room should have challenged the goal and had the officials look at the monitor to see the obvious hand pass. Would have saved the league much embarrassment.

Normally one might congratulate the NHL for stressing accountability by sitting officials for missed calls but to me it's cya at work. I don't care what the rules say, that play in the Blues game should have been reversed by Toronto. Claiming a hand pass is not reviewable is purely asinine nonsense Shame on the NHL Purely and simply the Blues were screwed not by the officials but by the NHL. It was the same in the NFL when the Saints were not screwed by the officials but by the NFL refused to correct the obvious missed dpi. Period.

So both conference finals are in the books, and there may have to be some last-minute changes to the Finals officials because of an injury that Wes McCauley sustained tonight in St. Louis. As such, here's who I think will be working:
Refs: - Kelly Sutherland - Chris Rooney - Gord Dwyer (the backup from tonight who ended up in the game) - Steve Kozari* (he's the beneficiary of tonight's occurrences; I had the other 3 in already)
Linesmen: - Derek Amell - Pierre Racicot - Greg Devorski - Scott Cherry

If McCauley's injury is indeed serious (and initial reports are that it is) and if O'Rourke and Joannette are indeed done because of the missed call in the Blues-Sharks series, then the only other ref eligible is Charron. Either way, it'll be a first in the Finals for either Dwyer or Charron.
I don't disagree with your predicted eight.

If he can go he will, if not they still have 4 other referees.

Good for the NHL. That way Wes can go if he's able and this way, all five are equally recognized. If he can go, it will be interesting to see how the rotation works.

That was not a trip, it was a straight up slewfoot.

Bozak's reaction immediately after the hit makes it clear he was expecting a penalty to be called.

I know this is unpopular here, but true NHL fans know and understand referees swallow their whistles in the third period especially in playoff games. It is what it is; has always been that way and probably will always be that way.

It is what it is; has always been that way and probably will always be that way. You keep saying this, yet (seemingly) refuse to acknowledge that by swallowing their whistles, the referees are still influencing the games, just in a way you find more convenient. Any true fan of any sport would rather consistency: the infractions are the same & are called, regardless of time or situation or importance of the game. Earlier in the playoffs, Sportsnet did a feature on Wes McCauley and he talked about a piece of paper that his dad had which had a "formula" on it: a.) call the match penalties, b.) call the scoring opportunities and c.) call the obvious foul that everyone sees. The trip/slewfoot falls under category C and needed to be called.
