John Butler (53), Nate Green (65) and Evan Scott (78) are promoted to full-time. Along with Jason Phillips (previously announced as heading up the Replay Center), Mike "Duke" Callahan is also retiring to become head of G-League Training and Development. That opens up two spots in next year's finals. No word on other roster changes.
Losing Duke is a really big loss for the NBA. When both Crawfords and McCutchen retired close together him and Foster really stepped up as the leaders of the staff. With Callahan now gone and Mauer missing the Finals last year we are certainly in a new era of NBA Officiating. Along with Scott Foster it will now be on Marc Davis, James Capers, Zach Zarba and Ed Malloy among others to really be the leaders of the staff.
Congratulations to Mike on a fantastic career and congratulations to Green, Butler and Scott on the promotion. All three worked a number of NBA Games last season.
Officiating roster is now out on the NBA Officials website. Garretson (10) and Zielinski (59) are gone. Garretson had a DUI arrest so my guess his dismissal was disciplinary in nature. Zielinski missed last season due to injury so that may be behind his retirement.
Quite a few number changes: Sago (76 to 9), Moyer-Gleich (75 to 13), Maddox (73 to 23), Kevin Scott (28 to 24), Dagher (57 to 28). Six new non-staff officials with numbers 79 to 84.
