While ultimately a NFHS or state association issue, this is a little too officious.

I kind of wonder what this dude was thinking? Does he think he's going to get dinged if he doesn't DQ this young lady? I mean, c'mon, how hard can it be to be a x-country official. Don't you just yell "GO" and then wait to see who finishes first? Kind of reminds me of the swimming officials at the Olympics. They lean over, look to make sure swimmer touches the wall and then they step back. I wonder what kind of special training they need to get that gig?

Hey timdaye, regarding swimming officials: Was the last stroke into the turn legal? Was the turn itself legal (it's more than just touching the wall...) Was the correct body position (stroke specific) re-established before the feet left the wall? Were the shoulders within 90 degrees of vertical anteriorly instead of posteriorly? Was the swimmer properly attired? Was his/her equipment legal? Did he/she touch the wall in the area prescribed by rule? A swimming turn judge (since that's the one you've chosen to ridicule) needs to evaluate all of the above AND THEN SOME in about .7 of a second. Have you ever worked a meet? If not, how about you pick up a whistle and join them, they're always looking for new folks. Would you like me to continue?
