The UNC-VT game went to 6 overtime periods. In the 4th OT period VT blocked a UNC field goal attempt thus ending UNC's half of the period. My question involves the following scenario:
1. VT blocks field goal try
2. VT player picks up the football and begins to return it to the opposite end zone.
3. During the return VT player fumbles the ball and it is recovered by a UNC player.
Does the above end that half of the overtime period or does UNC get another set of downs?
Also, if VT blocks the field goal attempt, picks up the football and returns it to the opposte end zone then VT is awarded 2 points and game ends. Correct?
