I have a question regarding goal line mechanics.
On the OPI that negated a Bengals TD in the closing moments, I noticed that DJ Frank LeBlanc hesitated to call TD. He was looking toward the deep wing, who had thrown his flag. Then, just before the CBS crew cut away, LeBlanc appeared to be lifting his arms to give a delayed TD signal.
Are officials taught to signal TD and then deal with the enforcement, or to wait if there's a call that may negate the score?
In real time, I thought LeBlanc was hesitating and I wouldn't blame him. He was working his first game, with no preseason or scrimmage experience. And he had a call overturned earlier in that drive. Talk about trial by fire! What a tough circumstance for all of this year's rookie officials.

I can't talk for the NFL, however where I work we are told if WE have a flag that we know will bring a score back not to signal it a TD.
