It appears the AAC hired Luke Richmond from the MAC to replace Michael Roche, who earned a well-deserved promotion to the ACC.
Jason Autrey moves up from the Sun Belt to the SEC. Not only that, he starts with the CBS 3:30 game in Death Valley. John McDaid must have alot of confidence in his successor.
Did a SEC referee retire? Hubert Owens, maybe? I see that Alex Moore is assigned to Alabama at Mizzou (another prominent assignment for a rookie SEC white hat).
I remember the ACC didn’t hesitate to put Marcus Woods on big games in his first season. Neither did the PAC-12 when Mike McCabe debuted. It seems these conferences are not like the NFL when it comes to giving lower tier games to their new referees.

Troy @ BYU: Marshall Lewis.
Interesting how some of these games that got put together post-COVID cancellations are coming together from an officiating perspective. There was discussion about regionally geographic crews as opposed to the crews that were sent out in May, but Marshall Lewis is out of FL I think. Long drive to Provo if we’re staying out of airports?

Long drive to Provo if we’re staying out of airports? Can’t really do that when conferences oversee officiating and the contract between schools determines who assigns the game.

He was one of the longest-tenured refs in the SEC, I believe. Did anyone else get fired?

Also Adam Savoie has had an interesting schedule. He worked an AAC-Big 12 game with all ACC Officials as the Referee in Week 3 and then was a CJ on an ACC Crew (Patterson) in Week 4. So It appears he has also been hired by the ACC however it is unclear if he is a Referee or CJ. ACC does not have set crews this year as most Referees have had a completely different crew every week. We will see with SEC but many of the crews were pretty close to last year so it seems like they have set crews.
