A really confused timing mistake at the end of the half. Aikman pointed out the mistake and it was pretty glaring. There was no way the Rams needed to snap that 4th down, with or without the Seattle injury.

Question on the timing on the replay at end of first half: did the 4th injury timeout by the Seahawks supersede the 10 second runoff?
FZ explanation:
When replay reverses a call, they are to set the clock to the point when the ball is ruled dead under the new ruling. In this case, they reset the clock to 44 seconds. Plus, when a clock goes from stopped (turnover called on the field) to running (down by contact), there is a 10-second runoff to compensate for the time to go to the next snap.
However, since there was an injury on the Seahawks, there is a timeout. The Seahawks used all 3, a "fourth timeout" is granted without penalty. But, since there isn't an actual charged timeout, and it was on the defense, the play clock goes to 40, creating an effective "40-second runoff". There cannot be a 10-second runoff against a defensive injury. The injury stoppage overrides the 10-second runoff that would ordinarily apply
John Hussey's crew puts on a clinic on this fumble scrum.
Back judge Rich Martinez and side judge Jabir Walker are first to arrive on the scene and they start digging.
Down judge Patrick Holt, referee John Hussey and umpire Tony Michalek are just off the pile to make sure no one else jumps into the scrum.
Once Martinez makes a ruling on whose ball it is, he verbally tells Michalek and Hussey. He doesn't signal because sometimes at the bottom of a pile, you can get turned around the come up pointing the wrong way.
Hussey makes the signal and the rest of the officials make sure the players unpile.
Hussey: 3.4 - They got the timing rule right at the end of the first half, but it was clunky. Other that that, good game. Michalek: 3.9 - good substitution stop Holt: 3.95 - excellent sideline calls. One heck of a debut! Mello: 3.8 - solid game from the solid veteran Zimmer: 3.8 - see Mello. Astounded the NFL wanted to get rid of him in the offseason. Glad he won his appeal. Walker: 3.85 - made a great team with Holt today. Nice on field debut. Martinez: 3.99 - hustled and had several close calls.
