This will be the first time Tony Corrente misses the Playoffs since 2010. Third CC in four years for Blakeman and fourth in six years for Vinovich.

Officials with nothing (not even an alt) so far: Brad Rogers, Ruben Fowler, Jerry Bergman, Mike Carr, Julian Mapp, Kevin Codey, Tom Symonette, Mearl Robinson, Steve Patrick Those are probably the Tier 3 Officials. It also makes some of the Week 17 changes make sense as Fowler, Bergman, Mapp and Carr were all taken off of important games. Mike Carr is now in his 4th season and has never even been an alternate, I think he is in big trouble, Wouldn't surprise me if Fowler and Symonette get asked to retire either. Fowler hasn't worked a Playoff game since 2014 and has not had any assignment 3 seasons in a row. Symonette has also had no assignments 3 seasons in a row an Patrick 2 seasons in a row. Witn Anderson being much more lenient about number of Officials in the Playoffs than Riveron was this is not great for these Officials.

Congrats to Anderson, George and Buchannan on their first CC assignment. Anderson worked the Super Bowl last season but had never worked a CC until now. He has gone from being a middle of the road deep wing to an elite Umpire, he really deserves another look at Referee. Also thrilled for Buchannan considering what a tough start he had to his career missing his first 2 seasons due to injury and then having to wait a very long time for his first Playoff assignment.
This is Rick Patterson's first Playoff Game since 2016 and first CC since 2007, I honestly thought his best days were well past him so it is great to see a resurgence from him.

It will be interesting to see the Super Bowl assignments. Until last season the rule was always only 2 assignments per playoffs, but that went out the window last season. Even through last year the rule then had always been you can't work more than 2 rounds in a row. But Pellis has worked every round so far making it seem as though the CC alternates are still Super Bowl eligible. And I have to think they are seeing as Torbert, Ellison, Stephan, A.Baynes and Santi who many of us believe are Super Bowl Officials are CC alterntes.

I would maybe give him a crew with a better LJ and SJ although Seeman/Willard aren’t bad.

A few points.
It would not surprise me if the entire AFC CC alternates are the Super Bowl Crew. Just a hunch - no inside information.
They won't do anything to Rogers this year. This is his second season at the white hat. They won't move him back to deep wing because, frankly, I think they want to manage more white hat turnover with Corrente and Boger possibly retiring in the next two years (again no inside information, just a hunch).
Current officials who have auditioned and are ready to be a white hat are Monroe, Willard and Anderson. I think Anderson will stay at U. He has excelled there, he is in his mid-50s, and could get one or two more rings at U. His age might start with a 6 by the time he's ready for the Super Bowl at R.
Who I want to know about is Wrolstad. He was a Super Bowl official at deep wing. He became a R in 2014 and since then has worked one wild card, one divisional and one Pro Bowl on the field. He has been an alternate every other year. So, he's not Tier 3 which might move him back to the deep wings, and he's not good enough to get on the field on the playoffs. He's stuck in Tier 2 purgatory.

Wrolstad as a R almost reminds me of Johnny Grier. Not really a playoff regular, but not Tom White.
I am not sure you will see Anderson as a R, but you also have Eck and Blake who were FBS R’s. I also like Cruse, Savoie, and Larry Smith from the current college crop.

I would like to add that the referees promoted in the last few years are top notch , starting with Hochuli followed by Kemp, Smith, Martin, Hill and Novak. I have been impressed with their abilities, and many of the newer hires have also been equally able.

Duane Heydt and Jeff Heaser should definitely get a look as well although I would guess Heaser is a bit on the older side but he is an excellent Referee.
