Congrats to all Super Bowl appointees. First Super Bowl for Thomas and Coleman and the other 5 are repeats. I am wondering how Fred Bryan could work the Super Bowl again. He just worked the Super Bowl 2 years ago and had no assignment last year. It probably should have been Ellison or George. And Coleman should be ineligble as he has not worked 3 Playoff games in 5 years. The only thing I can think of is they count the Pro Bowl as a postseason assignment. He worked the 2016 Pro Bowl and that would give him 3/5. Maybe because he has been around awhile and still has a decent playoff resume they are bending the rules a bit.
Also a little bit surprised Cheffers got this over Blakeman seeing as both were tier 1 and Cheffers has worked a Super Bowl more recently. It seems like starting with Riveron and continuing with Anderson the tier 1 rotation system has gone away and they are giving Super Bowl to the Officials who rank 1st as long as they are eligible, and even then Coleman isn't.
Eugene Hall has a heck of a streak going. 2017 CC, 2018 Super Bowl, 2019 CC, 2020 Super Bowl. Similar to Carl Paganelli early in his career.
And of course congrats to Sarah Thomas for being the first ever female Official to work the Super Bowl. We can argue whether she has been favored a bit or not but honestly doesn't change the fact that she is a very quality Official who I am sure will do great.

The graphic has R. Baynes and Coleman working the Super Bowl but the article has Stephan and Santi.

The graphic has R. Baynes and Coleman working the Super Bowl but the article has Stephan and Santi. Yes, during frantic cutting and pasting that was a mistake. We are correcting.

Congrats to all of the officials working the Super Bowl!
Is anyone else surprised that Ron Torbert didn’t get an on-field playoff assignment for the second consecutive year? I am also a bit surprised that Tony Corrente didn’t get one this season.

I am a dope. I meant to say that I’m surprised Torbert didn’t get a Tier 1 assignment.

CBA language changed last year and you only need to be eligible to work playoffs 3 out of the previous 5 seasons.
You don't have to actually work 3 out of the previous 5 seasons.
