russ is that list in any particular order? It is in the order of what level they worked last year except for Mauer and T. Washington. Has no bearings on how far I think they will go this year.

Congrats to both Goble and DeRosa for their first on court playoff assignments. DeRosa is only 30 years old and in his 4th season! He is well on his way to a long playoff career. Also congrats to Dalen, Holtkamp and Van Duyne on their first alternate assigments.
Happy to see Mauer and Tom Washington back after not going to the Orlando bubble last season. Both are vets who work the Conference Finals pretty much every season. It will be interesting to see if Mauer is able to return to the Finals this year after not working them in 2019 for the first time in awhile and not working the Playoffs last season. We do have at least one finals spot open after the sad news regarding Tony Brown.
Good luck to all of the Officials selected!

I remember reading a feature several years ago about Marat Kogut, an Israeli immigrant who was all in on becoming a NBA referee from a young age and how his dream came true.
Was he an alt. in the bubble last year? I don't recall him ever getting any on court assignments.
Is he good, bad, meh, or caught in a seniority/numbers game?

I think this year is a numbers game and Monty is known to mix things up in the playoffs. He has been an alternate in previous years.

Ayotte is a shocking omission. He was a CC this year.

Was he an alt. in the bubble last year? I don't recall him ever getting any on court assignments. Is he good, bad, meh, or caught in a seniority/numbers game? He has never gotten an on court assignment for the Playoffs and has kind of fallen the last few seasons. He was an alternate for the Playoffs in both 2017 and 2018 and got nothing in 2019. He was in the bubble last season working regular season games and worked the Replay Center during the Playoffs. Last season during the Playoffs they used 32 on court Officials, 4 alternates and 4 Replay Officials but it is usually 36 on court and 4 alternates with the Replay Officials being taken from the 36 on court Officials. So last year Kogut was basically an alternate but not Officially one. And now this year he gets nothing again. It is hard to see exactly where he stands. He is not anywhere close to bad enough to get dismissed but he cannot quite breakthrough to be in the Top 36. He has been close a couple of times but seems to have slightly regressed. I wouldn't say he is caught in a seniority game as McCutchen has liked to use younger Officials for the Playoffs, using a more merit based system than Fryer or Vaden ever did especially in the early rounds. 12 of the Officials in the Playoffs this season were hired after Kogut.

What is shocking is that Kogut was the Referee over both Holtkamp and Van Duyne during the regular season. It is puzzling why he was rated high then but is not now
