Unfortunately Carter and his crew will likely be sitting at home next week. And likely some if not all of Curles’s crew, too. Fortunately in the former’s case, the gaffe didn’t affect the outcome of the game, but it’s still an egregious enough error that the SEC really doesn’t have a choice but to suspend.

There is a difference between a bad spot, which is a judgement call, and forgetting what down it is, which is an obvious and egregious error, even though it didn't ultimately affect the outcome. And while Curles always seems to be in controversy (see: Arkensas-Florida, Florida-Ole miss 2020, Auburn-Ole Miss 2020), he unfortunately will get all of the blame when it was his crew's fault, not his.
