This from the 1988 AFC Championship game, Bills at Bengals. Rare to see a player tossed from such a huge game, but in this case (beginning at 6:02), Bills DB Derrick Burroughs gets run for a forearm shiver upside Bengals WR Tim McGee's head. Not sure if any other player has been tossed from a championship game since, but by any era's standards, the right call was made.
FYI, Gene Barth was the white hat for this chippy affair, which had controversy even before the game. At the 11 minute mark, a reference is made about the issue of the Bengals no-huddle offense. The prior week in the Divisional game, the Seahawks tried to stop the Bengals and their quick-snap by faking injuries on 3rd downs (see Cal v. Oregon earlier this season.) After Marv Levy dropped hints about doing the same thing, the NFL ruled that any attempt to quick-snap to get a 12 men penalty would be an unsportsmanlike conduct on the Bengals, the problem was the Bengals weren't notified until 2 hours before kickoff.
