"MLB Umpiring Discussion 2011" would probably be a better title than "Bash the Umpires 2011," but we'll live with it for now. Vanover clearly missed that one, and it wasn't really close. Here's another controversial play from the same game: atmlb.com/g5f2zUPhillips was really close to being out of the baseline on that one. It's hard to tell if McGhee missed the tag or not.

But the guy at third made a GREAT call on a non-tag/non running out of the base path...in the ninth, and then the next guy hits a dinger to send everyone home.

There was a great shot from high 3rd base which clearly showed both a missed tag, AND the runner moving his body and not his feet to avoid the tag. Great call by Bellino

I thought this site was to be used for constructive officiating related discussion, not a bash the official site! Get real people!

Let's use this thread to post any interesting umpiring plays, correct or incorrect, or any ejections that we see this season.
BTFS posting rules apply, as always.

the first base umpire missed one IMO early in the phils-astros game. I think halladay was definitely safe on an infield hit to 2nd, but he got called out.

As much as ex post facto ejections really count...... It shows up in the box score so it counts. I get what you're saying though. All it really means is that he has to watch the rest of the game from the locker room. I'm sure the guy who got tossed will have to pay a few bucks too.

The crew, Cousins and group, working the Tiger-Oriole game missed one big time. The ball off the CF's glove, hit the wall, and rebounded into air, caught by the the RF's bare hand, and then was ruled a catch. No one could understand , including Leyland I'm sure, how (4) umpires could miss that call, especially when the camera picked it up so well. I wish we had a video.

Here's a video of the play: atmlb.com/eNWfHUThat's a pretty tough call, IMO because you don't have an umpire parallel to the wall to see the ball. But, if MLB had a modern instant replay system, it could have been corrected.

Here's a good use of instant replay from the Nats-Marlins game last night: atmlb.com/h7wcwhDJ Reyburn made a good call there.
