Not official yet, but it looks like the game is on life support.
I think they get paid a playoff fee - maybe half a playoff fee, but its a nice chunk of change.
For an NFL official who has never been to Hawaii it is a nice little gift from the league; however the game has outlived its usefulness, relevance, and appeal.
I'd be fine with it going away.

Jim Quirk's last game was the Pro Bowl. He was behind the defensive line and had nothing to do on a pass play. There was a no blitz rule so when the ball was snapped and the line went into pass protect, Quirk just stayed put with his hands on his knees and looked down at the ground. After a few seconds he then followed the pass and was ready to spot the ball.
Sad way to end a career......

The game is a joke, and like Fred says, outlived it usefullness years and years ago! After watching a few plays this past year, and hearing the fans boo, its pretty obivious that the league needs to pull the plug here... It was a great way for the officials to have a nice vacation, and play some golf courses that most probably have never played, or maybe might not ever get to again! Goodbye ProBowl!

It was just an exhbition game, nothing more. I think we tend to hype events to bigger heights than what they really are, at least in the United States.

There was a time that I liked watching the Pro Bowl. It has lost it's energy excitement. Who gets excited at a lop sided victory?

The Pro Bowl was once a fairly decent game, but in the last 10-15 years or so the players lost interest in playing the game. A lot of the stars bowed out rather than risk injury in a meaningless exhibition game after getting so banged up during the season. While the officials undoubtedly enjoyed what was essentially a paid vacation, I'm sure they would rather have been working playoff games.

In all reality, not only the Pro Bowl, but ALL the all-star games in EVERY major sport have turned into nothing but a media circus.....they could drop all of them and just keep the seasons and games continuing on without a break. Take MLB and go back to alternating year World Series home advantages.

It's a chance for the hardest hitters and the best pitchers and defensive guys to get together and play a game that has meaning, since it decides WS homefield advantage. If NBA made the game decide homefield, it would be worth it too. I'm not sure how NHL works, but only the Pro Bowl is flawed really...
