I'll leave it at what I said.....calls in the end zone are missed all the time. Perhaps not on every play. Yes they blew that one. I won't question that. And I know, Buzzuy. you want the regulars back at all costs. Management just doesn't see it that way. Do you mean to tell me you've never seen a hold like that missed? Please. Any fair minded person who doesn't have a vested interest would agree no they weren't as good as the regulars wuld have been. I certainy agree on that. Was is the worst officiated NFL ame I've or you've ever seen? I doubt if you can say that. They did call the penalties at the end of the game which were there and had to be called. Even Coughlin said it wasn't the worst performance he's ever seen (of course I'm sure the coaches have been muzzled). Was the result illegitemate because of the officials? In all fairness, I don't think you can say that. Tony Dungy did say that overall they had done a decent enough job although I didn't see his comments at the end of the game as I was watching President Clinton but their performance in the second half didn't seem too bad. Finally I doubt extremely that their performance in this game will cause Park Avenue on Friday morning to call Scott Green to get his rear end to NY ASAP as they can't live with what went on during this game. It will take far worse for management to budge. If they got this performance for the rest of the season they wouldn't bat an eye lash to move off their position. This is my opinion and you or anybody else is quite welcome to disagree. On a scale of 0 to 100 for this game I'd give them a grade of 60 which is a passing grade. And this is the most important part of everything. I am not going to sit here and say this was an excellent performance byt the crew because it wasn't, but it was not bad enough to be panicking. The NFLRA was not helped at all by this game. Of course all those members would have done a better job, but this showed that the games will move on as planned. I realize this is a Referee forum, but I am thinking real life right now. Most people watching this game didn't give a crap who was officiating it as long as the game happened. Some Giants fans will be pointing to the play that should have been called holding but that is NOT the reason they lost this game. Like CJ and Tony Dungy said, it should have been called but I have seen it missed enough times with the real guys.

you would have to have a monumental error to force the league to get a deal down the with NFLRA. Almost every major error that can happen with the regulars has and most of the time the regular was not fired (Hochuli in Denver 2008, Luckett in the Sea/NYJ game in 1998, Bergman with a horrible call in an AZ game last year).
I mean it would have to be the worst call to ever happen to give NFLRA some sort of leverage. Season will go on and a super bowl champion will be crowned with or without them.

Were there some missed calls and some others that were questionable (clipping, block in the back on an offensive player) but it was not on the whole worse than games that I have seen the regular officials work (albeit from regular crews that likely would not be in Top 8)

Overall not too bad for a first game, lets see how the other 15 or so progress this weekend, this game was not that long...I looked for more inconsistency..although I stopped watching and hit the sack in the 3rd Quarter. From what I heard from then on to the end wasn't anything to be concerned about...Missed calls, mechanics, they need to polish up on. This White Hat wasn't too bad on the mike, the U nearly got creamed, but these things happen. See what the rest of this week brings. This game sure didn't bring out a hew and cry for the regulars back, this crew did a respectable job and there's not much leverage for the regulars.

The Periera take from Fox Sports: tinyurl.com/c7a2m3yThe replacement crew in this game was fine...a couple of misses but that's normal. However, there is obviously a great deal of animosity being generated between him and Mr. Anderson, the management boss of the officials. Of course Anderson did a radio interview and really laced into Periera. It makes one wonder if Mike's departure from the NFL was totallyh cordial and just how much support he will be getting in terms of getting information in the future!

Part of the NFL's rub against Pereira is that he is the go-to guy for the media (even from competitors!) more than Carl Johnson, although that is the choice of the NFL to reduce the visibility of the officiating vp since Johnson took over. Pereira just filled the empty space. From what I could tell, the league and Pereira had an amicable split when he left.
I think Ray Anderson was just tiring of the "Pereira says" line, and was looking to end that line of questioning emphatically. That's not to say that they haven't soured on Pereira now that he doesn't have to tow the corporate line.
As far as support on getting information, Pereira has an extensive network of contacts to draw on, and he does not have to rely on the PR machine operators like yours truly. He personally knows all 121 officials and still has some people he can get in touch with at 345 Park if need be. But, since he knows the standard operating procedure, he can sometimes say something like "the NFL is going to look at that..." with authority.

I like MPs comments. Not showing any spite but the truth. I think some of the officials do feel invincible and although I dont think one should be yanked off the field for one bad game, some need to be yanked before the season is over if they do not perform. There are names we all think about over the last 10 years who should have been pulled during the season and I think it helps that officials realize they are no invincible.
