If I remember correctly, the 2001 replacements had a commitment through Week 3, and I believe they were paid for Weeks 2 and 3 (even though Week 2 came after Week 17 that year).
To be "on call" for the league, and for blocking out their personal/professional schedules through Columbus Day, I am sure the league intends on paying the replacements that long. Therefore, the "on-call" pay would probably be deducted from the regular officials, prorated across the season.
I tried to confirm this with the league. They politely declined comment.
