Representatives from the NFL and the Referees Association met all day in New York with a mediator. Substantial differences remain. No further talks are scheduled.
Another week of scabs ahead of us apparently.

At least they met with the mediator. At the time of King's report there were no further talks scheduled. I hope that they'll schedule some more for this week. They seem to be wanting to do more talking this as of late. That's all the hope and optimism I can take away from this.
Other than that, UGH!

This is also another interesting nugget from the PFT article linked above that can give one some hope:
Earlier today, NBC officiating consultant Jim Daopoulos learned that last week’s talks went better than reported.

King tweet after SNF:
Peter King@SI_PeterKing
Have thought all along NFL wouldn't cave on $3m/yr pension issue with real refs. I don't see how they have a choice now.

Becky:
What else can you call them...had beens? the meaning is the same, they were active officials and had been there on the field, how else in the English language could you describe them? Got my feeble old mind perplexed!

former on-field officials
Some were probably strong-armed a bit to get off the field (Madsen comes to find as someone who we did not hear about health or other issues before he suddenly left the field) but others such as Frantz and Sifferman did have long, successful NFL careers

its awesome til you realize it could have changed the outcome of the game. those awesome guys should be fired for botching that and leaving an official, albeit a scab, out to dry.

its awesome til you realize it could have changed the outcome of the game. those awesome guys should be fired for b otching that and leaving an official, albeit a scab, out to dry. But it's been going on all along. The replay official or the league supervisor was just as responsible for the extra time out for Seattle. He knows the rules or supposedly he does and when the ref did not announce the third time out for Seattle, an administrative error not a judgment call, he should have interceded. Same goes for the botched last play of the game in Oakland-San Diego (that is if they were aware of the rule too). I believe some of the replay officials/supervisors are making an effort to assist the scabs. Others are making little or no effort hoping they fail and their friends get back on the field. I've felt that way all during this fiasco.

You know the Replay booth(Employees) are not happy with the NFL/Owners/Goodell.... So why not leave the Replacement officials out to dry...
I know it is wrong... it wrong for the NFL to destroy the NFL Games with Officials who do not know the rules and cannot officiate in NFL Game. That is leaving the Fans out to dry too!
