That indeed is Dick Stello coming in from first base. As I understand it, this play got Curt Gowdy removed from NBC'S baseball broadcasts. Apparently, NBC had a production staffer who was also a minor league umpire. He provided the correct interpretation to the booth but Gowdy never used it, instead continuing to criticize Larry Barnett.
