Ready or not, time to officiate! Bengals take the openingn kickoff to the house. Nate Jones with the goal line call. No time to settle in to a game for the officials!

There was a fair catch free kick in London. Kick attempt no good.

Maybe "judgement calls" shouldn't result in 50 yards worth of penalties or game altering plays? Or maybe video replay could stick to one way of deciding what is a correct or incorrect call and get them right...or at least be consistent.

Wow - I worked football for years. I love the game, and I think I have a good understanding of the concept of advantage/disadvantage. But I think Al Riveron has lost sight of the fact that a foul usually shouldn't be called if there was no illegal gain of advantage.
A game like that would have a foul on each and every play. Oh - just like the Cowboys/Jets fiasco. Every play was another foul. And most appeared to be phantoms.
I'll say it again - Riveron needs to go. Heck - give him a promotion - I don't care - just get him out of the officiating office.

The problem is that in an attempt to make all calls uniform and correct, they are taking away judgement. I'm OK for replay to correct the "100 drunks in a bar can see" PI calls, but I think this rule is causing more frustration (like the catch rule) than solving incorrect calls.
