Should be pretty easy to figure out which conferences will get the CFP games given that three of the P5 leagues won’t have a team in the CFP. I predict ACC gets the NCG since B12 had it last year and P12 the year before.

I would predict Larry Smith will call the NY6 bowl game assigned to the Big 10.

If the ACC gets the national title game, Jeff Flanagan or Jeff Heaser are the two clear candidates to me. Both are solid and both have successfully worked semi-final games. Heaser has experience in the NFL development program, AAF and XFL while Flanagan has the experience and longer tenure in the ACC. I would not be surprised with either choice if it indeed falls to the ACC to supply the crew.

Sure I'll break the ice (with some observations). Cotton Bowl (Alabama/Cincinnati): BIG-12, led by Scott Campbell - Given that David Alvarez & Brandon Cruse did the playoff games last year for the BIG-12, this year is Campbell's time Orange Bowl (Michigan/Georgia): PAC-12, led by Steve Strimling - As good as Strimling is, I was very close to putting Chris Coyte in the NY6 again.CFP Championship: ACC, led by Jeff Flanagan - Any of Flanagan, Duane Heydt, Jeff Heaser or Stuart Mullins would be worthy of this assignmentSugar Bowl (Baylor/Ole Miss): BIG-10, led by Reggie SmithFiesta Bowl (Notre Dame/Oklahoma State): BIG-10, led by Ron Snodgrass - Knowing that Smith moved to the BIG-10 will make their bowl assignments interesting going forward, and Snodgrass gets his NY6 assignment a year later.Rose Bowl (Ohio State/Utah): SEC, led by David SmithPeach Bowl (Michigan State/Pitt): SEC, led by Matt Loeffler - Had James Carter & his crew not had the down controversy in September, I think he'd be in over Smith.

So for the Big 12 and Pac 12 an official can work the championship game and get a bowl...that does not seem to be consistent. Looks like for example AAC there was a spread of the officials: Johns had the championship; Lamertina the Army/Navy the rest confirmed above...
Why is this...would not you want to spread these games out...

I think the PAC-12 and Big 12 were running into an issue that with all of the bowl games, especially high profile ones, they were running out of officials that they felt comfortable sending. Keep in mind Big 12 and MWC share some crews so there aren’t as many bye week crews.
