Oklahoma State capped off their first drive with a touchdown on what appears to be a pick play. However, there is only PI on passes that cross the line of scrimmage with the interpretation of that being that it has to be at least a yard past for restrictions to be in effect. This pass was caught right at the line of scrimmage so this is a correct no call.
The crew has another flag down for KCI, and this one stays down. The Notre Dame gunner is within 1 yard and between the shoulders of the returner and impedes his ability to field the kick, this is a good call.
Terry McAulay can take a long walk off a short pier. We get it. You were the best to ever officiate and no one is ever worthy of your Seron plastic pea finger whistle. Just sit on your couch and yell at the TV. I'm tired of hearing him constantly snark on the officiating. And I thought I'd never say that.
Great call here by the H, BJ Henry, of a fumble just prior to the crossing the goal line. The rest of the crew had strong mechanics as well as the ball bounced into the endzone before being recovered by the defense for a touchback.

And the funny thing is Jerry McGinn was a Referee who worked under McAulay and McAulay regularly gave him top assignments. Some of these comments just feel personal, like he’s got history or he’s still holding a grudge. Nothing these Officials do is ever good enough for him.

The RTP against Ok state was a bad call and there was a missed DPI, though McGinn is only responsible for the latter. But still, he makes it sound like he was awful.
Referee Jason Autrey flagged a hold by the right tackle on a run to the outside. There were clear indicators that a foul might develop, as RT Dawand Jones had his hands on the outside of the defensive player and grabbed at the defender's shoulder once he was almost beat.
However, the defensive player was able to fight through and participate in the tackle, which kept the runner to no additional gain. Therefore, the actual restriction that occurred wasn't material or consequential enough to warrant a foul.
Officials aim to process all of the action in front of them, and sometimes, a slower flag gives them time to realize that what initially looks bad is actually not a foul.
Good job by head line judge Ryan Hagan to identify that there was a receiver in the area on this quick pass. This allows the referee to use that piece of information to combine with the QB being under pressure and in/out of the pocket to determine if intentional grounding was present on the play.
This hook and turn prevented the receiver from getting to the ball. The contact wasn't much, but it was clearly early, and had a material effect as the receiver was knocked off balance and could not complete the catch.
On this pass interference, field judge Philip Davenport flags a clear defensive pass interference. Because the defender was not playing the ball, any early contact is enough for a foul.

An excellent official has lost all credibility. Terry should just tell everyone why he’s so bitter toward… well, everyone. It would be eye-opening if he were honest about it.

Thank you! I have no problem when the officiating expert is honest about missed calls by crews (LeMonnier often says something to the effect of "I had that one for defensive pass interference."). McAulay has no profession respect for fellow officials and his criticisms are often silly, petty, and/or flat out rude. Maybe we could find some clips of the blatantly missed calls by McAulay as a SJ, some of which were part of the impetus for the NFL reinstating replay.

He has always come off as exceptionally arrogant. I remember the beer bottle game in Cleveland in 2001 and he looked completely lost like he had no idea what to do. It was his rookie year at the white hat and he several veteran officials on his crew and he completely phazed out. Never liked his style or his arrogance.
