Being on Cheffers crew has really helped Carr. Prior to these last two years where Carr has made tremendous strides, he was mainly on crews led by Jerome Boger and Alex Kemp. Say what you want about them as Referees, but neither has a sterling track record when it comes to developing young officials. I get that for the sake of balance it is inevitable that some younger officials will get placed with Referees that are not as good of mentors for young officials. However, I think the NFL needs a shorter leash with changing crews if someone who consistently was getting his FBS conference’s top assignments doesn’t appear to be progressing as expected.

Great call by Mike Carr on the offside call. Patrick Mahomes should have been flagged and kicked out of the game for berating him afterwards. from bigorange 1: I will bet (or at least hope) both Reid and Mahomes are fined for public comments criticizing game officials. They should each also be made to apologize (publicly) to the NFL and the NFLRA before being allowed to take the field and participate in their next game.

Still embarrassed about the end of the game?
I think the Chiefs might be surprised the general public is reacting rationally and not rioting.

In reviewing this a day later, I think the NFL is going to go after Kansas City here. Mahomes had the blowup on the field and ran into a chain crew guy in the process, and then made his comments to the press afterward, which A) He could conceivably have had time to watch the game tape and see that Toney was almost further forward than the ball, B) Could have calmed down, and C) The press conference always gets players and coaches in trouble when the criticize the officials... And that Andy Reid complaining that they weren't warned beforehand, so essentially doubling down that he disagrees with the penalty. You can't really use "they made other bad calls in other games, so it's OK for me to be mad at this good call" angle that I think they're trying to put out there. We will see what comes, but I would not be surprised if the NFL comes at them with something substantial.
