One intangible on an officiating crew is that each member has the other's back. Here is an example. Dean Look makes a very easy late hit call in a 1980 tilt between the Browns and Jets. The Jets erupt and start to gang up on SJ Dean Look. HL Jerry Bergman and FJ Fritz Graf converge on the situation, get everyone away, and let Look report the foul. Those two make sure the players get back to the sideline or huddle without doing something foolish. It was a very routine thing, but it is what helps make a good crew a great crew. bit.ly/f2SkZu

This was a playoff crew, not a regular crew. Outstanding!
