Bad call.
That player should continue to praise Jesus. In the endzone.
Colbrese's words are hypocritical.

I think that any celebration that directly taunts an opponent ought to be penalized. Otherwise, ...

Our HS crew has discussed this. Any player who makes a religious gesture will NOT be penalized in our game. Anything else drawing attention to himself or that taunts his opponents will be flagged.

That's a bad call. Like FF7 said, the only time that I'll throw an excessive celebration call is when a player is drawing attention to himself or taunting an opponent. I don't recall a time when I've seen a player making a religious gesture, but there is no way that I would flag that.
I wonder if the NFHS will revise the rule for next season because of this....
Edit: Colbrese should be ashamed of himself. For him to say that "The point is to make sure the game goes on, that something that happens after a score or after a spectacular play or whatever doesn't slow down play itself" is ridiculous.
An act like that is NOT unsportsmanlike and does NOT cause the game to bog down.

If a player flaunts touchdown that is unsportsman like conduct. However, if he is praising the Lord, it is okay Bulldog
