Corrente's crew could have their hands full in the 2nd half of the Bucs-Falcons game. It's starting to get chippy...

WK #13 2010 Bear VS Lions I give NFL R-85 Ed Hochuli's Crew an AGood call on the Fumble & both teams ended up with the ball Also GREAT call by Ed Hochuli in the Forearm of Lions Suh into Back of head/helmet of Bears Cutler(Mike Pereira said good judgement call) & after the play.. Lions Suh.. decided to take his Hand & smash Cutler's head into the turf.... UNSPORTSMAN LIKE Conduct!!!!!!!! GREAT CALL! If anyone wants to see a video of this.. I can make one! Becky I dont know what you were watching, but that was a crappy call. Cutler was a runner and although maybe it wasn't a 2 hand tap, it certainly wasn't that bad. Bad would be the Dallas Cowboys all year.

You dont hear anyone talking about loving Clete Blakeman or Bill Leavy or anyone else. Yes Hochuli has muscles, but he certainly is not perfect and it gets annoying when you always talk about him.
JayJay and Melka, your Lions cannot buy a break all year. Plus the draft this year is going to be extremely weak. Perhaps that defender from Nebraska would be a good choice.

Becky, I understand your love for Ed, but IMO he blew this call. I am Bears fan saying this. It did not cost the Lions the game but it was not a good call by Hochuli. You have to realize the best refs get calls wrong sometimes, and this was one of those instances.

the call is a borderline call depending on which angle you look at. I think a lot of people, on both sides, are getting way too defensive over it. Personally this is the sort of close call that I prefer not to see called because anytime you have a 325 pound object hitting a 225 pound object the likelihood is the smaller object is going to take the brunt of it. If a RB was running with the ball I doubt you see this called and different rules should not apply to QB when he is running for the first down

Just saw a highlight of the Suh play. I think that's one that you have to let go. Still, even if Hochuli didn't throw the flag, it would have been 2nd and 1 with 8+ minutes left in the game. With the way everyone was making a big deal about it, I thought the play happened on a 4th down in the last 2 minutes of the game!

If it happened in the 1st quarter, that's one thing. But this happened in the 4th quarter. It helped cost the Lions this game.

Keep the discussion about the calls. No attacks! Thanks.

An Indy defensive lineman just got called for using "leverage" for putting his knee on the back of a Dallas lineman on a field goal attempt. A good call, and it was confirmed by Pereira.

In the Dallas/Indy game, the Indy player was called for "leverage," on a fourth down FG attempt, giving Dallas half the distance and a first down, which ultimately resulted in a TD.
MP explained that it doesn't have to be jumping on the back of a teammate, just on anyone's back is a penalty, but my question is this...If the Indy player had blocked the kick, could that be considered a "palpably unfair act," thus allowing Dallas to be awarded the FG?

It was indeed odd to see Parry an Co. in the long sleeves and black pants when I walked into Qualcomm at 12:30. The crew was active all game with a lot of deep pass attempts and the fact that the Chargers and Raiders really don't like each other.
They got even more active after halftime because Perry Paganelli didn't come out of the locker room. Didn't see anything during the first half to indicate an injury, but they did go 6-man in the 2nd half. Was very strange not having ANY official in the middle behind the line of scrimmage.

Can crews change uniforms based on the weather such as sleeve length and pants if weather changes?

So far, so good for McAulay's crew in Baltimore. There were a lot of flags in the 1st quarter, but the 2nd half was a little more quiet.

Becky As you said, Becky - Mike Pereira was brought in to comment on this, but he said "it was a judgement call." He did not say "it was a good judgement call." Big difference. In real time, I can understand why it was called. Yes, I'm a die-hard Bears fan. On replay however, it is less obvious.

Can crews change uniforms based on the weather such as sleeve length and pants if weather changes? Do you mean in mid-game? Probably not without permission. The NFL has gotten to really micromanaging things on some odd levels, then allowing total freedom in others. Given the track record of how they regulated official's uniforms, I don't think they'd allow it. Try asking MP online. I'm going to submit a question myself, maybe he'll answer both of them. msn.foxsports.com/nfl/page/Mike-Pereira-FOX-NFL-Rules-Analyst
