bit.ly/g7e3R6Ben Dreith handles the ceremony with Mrs. Vince Lombardi. The officials wore yellow armbands to celebrate the release of the Iranian hostages six days prior. For those of you who didn't live through it, it was a truly joyous time when that scum Khomeini let our people go. Back to officiating.....Tony Veteri, Fritz Graf, Tom Dooley, and Tom Kelleher all wore #7 in the 1979-81 numbering system. They were all assigned to Super Bowl 15...... too many #7s. So, for Super Bowl 15, Dooley took #10, Veteri took #8, Graf took #17, and Kelleher - the senior man - kept #7. This was the last game at LJ for Dooley. He went to R for 1981 replacing the retired Cal Lepore. Dooley was #19 at R, and then took #6 starting in 1982.

I like how Dreith says "Ms. Lombardi, I want to meet captains..." and the last name of the players (but he missed on Carl Hairston, he calls him Harrison). I don't believe now referees call the last name of the captains at the Super Bowl.
By the way FredFan7, do you know if Super Bowl XVII coin toss it's in youtube? It's when Jerry Markbreit became confused and then HL Dale Hamer came it to the rescue.

I have looked high and low for it and I can't find it - probably much to Markbreit's delight and relief! ;D The Blackwood Brothers(Glenn & Lyle Jr) were on that Dolphin team in Super Bowl XVII. I know them, because their Father(Lyle Sr) played with my Father @ Baylor University & Their father also worked for my Father @ Church's Chicken. Back in late 1940's to early 1950's is when my Father played & the Lyle Blackwood SR was @ Baylor too... His Wife Jewel worked in the Prez office. They worked it so that my Mother could ride in on my Father's Football/Baseball Scholarship. Than a semester later my Mother got her own Scholarship in Music... My Family and I have spent many yrs going to the Coast/Beach with the Blackwoods(they owned condos on Mustang Island/Port Aranasas, TX). We also would go H2O Skiing with them too. They had 1 boat & we took or 2 boats to the lake alot.. I just wanted to share these stories... Becky
