Let me say that the act wasn't ejection-worthy, but I don't know if the player did something unsportsmanlike before that.
The article says that the player will probably face an expulsion, and that is the right call. Behavior like that is inexcusable.

Oh my! I hope justice is served. The kid gave two shoves to his opponent which (in my armchair basketball referee opinion) would be worth a technical foul. Maybe it was his second T. Maybe the referee judged the action to be flagrant. I think the decision to eject is a HTBT (had to be there).
While nothing in that incident is funny, I had to smirk at the 1:40 mark as the player in the red jersey reacts in stunned disbelief, then walks away as if saying, "I'm out of here."

If anyone is interested in more details, I know the referee in question.

Florida Statue 784.081 defines such an act as an assault, battery, aggrivated assault or aggrivated battery. Because Mr. Holland threw the official to the ground, it is a battery - a third degree felony punishable by up to 5 years in jail, up to a $5000 fine, or both under Florida law.
Hope he gets it all, and realizes that 10 seconds of idiocy ruined the rest of his life. Felony convictions tend to linger...

This is totally unexceptable, especially at the High School level...but look at the thug this past Sunday in the Jets game too..... The law should come down on this goon as hard as they can, no politically correct slap on the wrist. People have to know violence of any kind is getting out of hand and NEEDS to br dealt with.
