has anyone ever seen John Cahill or Bryan Kersey?
Cahill does a lot, I've seen him in ACC, Big East and Big 10 games. Kersey is primarily Big East and ACC.
Thoughts on them?

Bryan is the son of former NBA referee Jess Kersey. I've seen him work a few games and I think he's good.

Bryan Kersey worked last Saturday's Wake Forrest vs NC State in Raleigh. He has progessed nicely in the college ranks and did not appear to have his father's desire to pursue an NBA Career.
Former NBA Ref's Sean Corbin and Joe Derosa are doing NCAA Basketbll this year since resigning from NBA.

I like Bryan Kersey and am a little surprised he didn't follow his dad into the NBA. John Cahill is one of college basketball's best refs, having worked several national championship games, including Duke-Butler last year.

I saw Joe DeRosa work a game last weekend (Colorado-Missouri) and couldn't help but wonder what made him leave the NBA and officiate college ball. Was it something personal or did the NBA force him out? Seems weird for a perennial NBA Finals ref to drop out on a dime...
Gene Steratore also officiates in the college ranks, primarily in the Big East and Atlantic 10. He worked the St. John's-Syracuse game the other night and did a pretty good job.
I've been watching a lot of college basketball over the last few years, and I think that the officiating in the college ranks is A LOT better than the officiating in the NBA. Things are called more consistently across the board and the officials don't seem to play favorites with particular teams or coaches at all.

I never really follow the NBA officials, just cuz the NBA isn't appealing to me. It's a bunch of individuals on teams looking to make a highlight reel.
From the NBA games i have watched, i definitely agree that NCAA officiating is better.
I think Cahill has been really good, this year he has been sub-par everytime I have seen him, once live, and several times on TV. He had the Purdue-Minnesota game last night, and the commentators said some stuff about him that wasn't favorable.
Kersey, is one that I think is not good at all. Of course I haven't seen every game, or most of his games, but I've seen maybe 4 this year alone, and he always seems like he is making up calls. He missed a blatant goal tend against VT in the VT-UNC game last night that the official opposite the court had to call. I beleive he also called the "charge" on Jeff Allen when Tyler Zeller was basically standing out of bounds.
I liek Steratore also, he did an NIT game at VT last year, and he was great.
Roger Ayers, did Duke-FSU Wednesday, and he is fantastic. He's turned down the NBA several times, but he is probably the best young official on the east coast.
Being a referee of a sport though, I don't 'blame the officials' but last night left much to be desired. All around I think the VT-UNC guys called some iffy fouls on both teams, especially when Malcolm delaney for VT shoved off the defender, and they called a defensive foul.

I had a spell of watching the NBA from the late 80s through 1998. I haven't watched a NBA game start to finish in 12 years. I watched the fourth quarter of the NBA finals the year Detriot beat the Lakers. So my NBA officiating knowledge stops with Darrel Garretson, Jake O'Donnel, Jess Kersey, Jack Madden, Ed Rush, and Mike Mathis.
Many of my favorite NCAA officials have retired or semi-retired in the last five years - like John Clougherty, Steve Welmer, and Jody Silvester. Ted Hillary and Ed Hightower are still hanging on.
Since I've gotten married and had children my sports viewing priorities have changed to where I narrow down my sports viewing to college and pro football, Indy Car racing, some baseball, and a little college basketball. Hockey and NBA have fallen victim to family.

I wont fault your for not watching NHL or NBA. Ted Hillary looks good this year with his new knee (knees?). I havent seen Hightower, but I have heard the name a lot.
